Nothing Phone (1) to get Android 13 Update in the ‘First Half of 2023’

Nothing Phone (1) Android 13 Update

Tech Giant Google introduced Android 13 last week and several smartphone companies are getting ready to start rolling out their smartphones for the latest Android 13 update. NOTHING had officially confirmed that Phone (1) users will start receiving the Android 13 update next year by the ‘First Half of 2023’. This official statement comes after several social media users asked on Twitter when would the Nothing Phone (1) receives the latest Android 13 update.

Carl Pei, in an official statement to the Android Authority, confirmed that;

We are constantly working to improve the experience of using Phone 1. To ensure this, updates to the operating system will be made available for download on a regular basis. As for Android 13, it will be offered to Phone 1 users in the first half of 2023. Before release, we want to fine-tune the software update with Nothing’s hardware. We will take care to keep you updated with further information.

However, Carl Pei promises 3 years of Android updates, as well as 4 years of security patches every two months that is, Nothing phone (1) will receives updates till Android 15.

The company really seems to be going against the grain of the market, as major brands are already testing their customized versions of Android 13 — even with the public. Samsung, Xiaomi, and OnePlus are just a few of the companies that are already running tests after the stable launch of Google Pixel phones.

Android 13 is an update with discreet changes, especially when compared to the jump between Android 11 and 12, which saw major design changes with Material You, features for gamers, and other new features. Furthermore, Nothing claims to prefer performance and stability on NothingOS.

The Nothing Phone 1 launched in July with the Snapdragon 778G Plus, but its real highlight lies with the “transparent” look that, in previous tests, showed it might not be as durable as expected. For now, the company does not comment on its next steps in the market, but there is an expectation for a new wireless headset.
